Fishing

How Fishing XP is earned depends on whether a fishing mod is installed:

With a fishing mod (HyFishing or CozyTales Fishing)

When HyFishing or CozyTales Fishing is installed, Fishing XP comes exclusively from rod catches. Killing fish mobs awards weapon combat XP (or nothing) like any other mob - no Fishing XP is awarded from kills in any combat mode.

CozyTales Fishing is detected automatically, no configuration required. It pays more Fishing XP for a rarer catch and adds a one-time bonus the first time you land a given species. Both behaviors, and the per-catch payouts behind them, are retuned in the FISHING block of xp-maps.json.

Without a fishing mod

Without a fishing integration, the plugin recognizes 18+ aquatic mob types and routes them to Fishing XP instead of weapon XP. This behavior depends on the active combat XP mode:

  • Per-Hit and Kill-Only - Fish kills award Fishing XP (the only way to level Fishing without a mod)
  • Damage+Kill - Fish kills award weapon kill XP like any other mob (damage hits already award weapon XP)
  • Damage - No special fish handling; weapon XP from damage hits only

Skill Tree Rewards

Gathering skills primarily offer:

  • Luck - Chance for bonus resources
  • Bonus XP - Faster leveling
  • Stamina - More endurance
  • Defense - Damage reduction
  • Health - Survivability
  • Health Regen - Passive health regeneration at high tiers (Lv80+)

Gear can boost gathering too

A held tool can grant its own flat Luck or Bonus XP for a matching gathering skill (for example a pickaxe tagged for Mining Luck), independent of your skill-tree picks. See Gear Stats for the authoring details.

Extending Gathering in a Content Pack

Gathering XP values, luck rows, and item requirements are all pack-authorable, the same as any other MMO Skill Tree content.

Prefer a content pack: author one file per skill's XP map under Server/MMOSkillTree/XpMaps/ inside a pack folder, zip it, and drop the .zip into your server Mods/ folder. Building the zip.

mods/mmoskilltree/xp-maps.json stays the quick per-server tweak that always wins.

Bonus resource drops (luck-gated bonus loot on a gather) ship under Server/MMOSkillTree/BonusDrops/ - see Bonus Drops. Tool-tier gates ship under Server/MMOSkillTree/ItemRequirements/ - see Item Requirements.
