v1.5.0 Patch Notes
What's new in v1.5.0
A companion-scaling, HUD, and quest update. Each character gains an overall Power Level that the new standalone MMO Mob Scaling mod uses to scale open-world enemies to your build, the on-screen quest tracker is rebuilt to match the game's own objective panel and can be toggled per player, three new tutorial side quests join the Adventurer's Guide, and the Quests and Bounty Board menus gain "mine" tabs with abandon buttons. The old Elite Mobs system is retired in favor of the new scaling mod.
- New: Power Level. The mod works out an overall Power Level for each player from your whole build: combat level, claimed skill-tree rewards, unlocked abilities, ability mastery, and claimed achievements. On its own it changes nothing you see day to day; the new MMO Mob Scaling mod reads it so open-world mobs scale to how strong the group around them actually is, not just their highest combat level.
- Removed: the built-in Elite Mobs system. Elite Mobs has been retired. For open-world difficulty, install the new standalone MMO Mob Scaling mod, which replaces it with zone-based, group-aware scaling, rarities, and affixes.
- New: three tutorial side quests. The Adventurer's Guide offers a short homesteader arc alongside the existing starter chain without blocking it: Make Camp (craft a couple of chests and a campfire, then place some blocks), Home Cooking (cook a meal on that campfire and eat it), and Prove Your Mettle (hunt the Trork). Each trains something the starter chain skips (Building, Cooking, sustained combat) and pays bonus XP. A single "Got any quests?" prompt on the Guide opens what it can start you on right now (with a link to the full quest list) or jumps straight to the quest list when there is nothing to offer, handing a side quest in leads you straight to the next one, and the Guide greets you with a "well done" turn-in once the work is done. They ship in every language and need no content pack.
- New: a rebuilt quest tracker HUD. The on-screen tracked-quests overlay is restyled to match Hytale's own objective panel (framed, with per-task icons and gold text) and now sizes itself to the quests you are actually tracking instead of always reserving a fixed five-quest box.
- New:
/mmohudper-player HUD toggles. Each player can show or hide their own on-screen HUDs with/mmohud show|hide all|quest|npc|difficulty|ability: the quest tracker and ability-cooldown overlays, plus the MMO Mob Scaling zone-difficulty and mob-inspector cards. The choice is remembered per player, and a hidden difficulty or inspector card stays hidden even if you add the scaling mod later. - New: "My Quests" and "My Bounties" tabs. The NPC quest page gains a My Quests tab listing everything you have active or ready to claim, and the Bounty Board gains a My Bounties tab, both with the full detail pane and a new Abandon button, so a quest or bounty can be dropped without hunting for it in the main menu.
- Improved: quest lists sort by what needs you. Quests that are ready to claim or ready to turn in float to the top, in-progress next, and finished quests sink to the bottom, in the main quest log and on both NPC-page tabs.
- Improved: the quest track and achievement pin buttons are now a waypoint icon. The track and pin toggles show a proper map-waypoint marker (dim when off, gold when tracked) instead of a plus / minus text label.
- Fixed: quest menus jumped to the top when you clicked a button. On the quest log and the NPC quest pages, selecting a quest or using an action button (accept, claim, turn in, track) snapped a long list back to the top. The list now keeps its scroll position, so a long quest list is no longer painful to browse.
- Fixed: "reach a level" quests showed no progress. A quest step to reach a skill level (or total level) displayed 0 toward its target until you actually hit it, even if you already had the levels. It now shows your real current level against the target.
- Changed: bonus mob drops are now off by default and use real dropped items. Mob drop commands can drop real ground items (from a native drop table) that you walk over to pick up, layered on a mob's normal loot. The feature ships turned off, so the previous always-on 5%-per-kill Life Essence drop and its "Mob Drop!" popup are gone unless a server owner turns it back on.
- Improved: NPC conversations can show coloured, icon-tagged options. A dialogue option can carry its own colour and an item or symbol icon, so conversation choices can be styled per option.
- Fixed: a Bounty Board crash when accepting a bounty. Accepting a plain kill or gather bounty while another bounty sat in the "Ready to turn in" section could disconnect you; the board now updates the correct row and no longer kicks you.
- Fixed: an admin settings menu crash. An admin configuration screen that could disconnect you on open now opens cleanly.
- Balance: rested XP builds up more slowly. The offline rested-XP bonus accrues at 250 XP per hour by default, down from 1500, so the rested pool fills more gradually. Server owners can retune it in the skill config.
