v1.0.1 Patch Notes

What's new in v1.0.1

Casting rework, plus a sweep of admin and skill-tree fixes. The legacy keys-7/8/9 mode is gone — active abilities now fire from two parallel input paths (keyboard ability keys *and* matching cast items) so every player can pick whichever feels best without flipping a mode switch.

Updates

  • Three MMO ability slots, six configurable inputs. Bind any unlocked ability to Slot 1, Slot 2, or Slot 3. Each slot independently picks one of six Hytale inputs: Ability 1 / 2 / 3 plus their + Crouch variants. Crouch is detected at the moment the key fires (player is holding Hytale's sneak), so it's a free modifier — no extra keybind needed. Defaults match the prior prerelease feel: Slot 1 = Ability 2, Slot 2 = Ability 3, Slot 3 = Ability 2 + Crouch.
  • Per-slot input picker on the Abilities page. Each slot row has a new INPUT dropdown beneath the binding. Pick from the six Hytale inputs; if two slots would collide, the picker auto-swaps them so the three inputs always remain distinct.
  • Cast items auto-given on first connect. Players receive *Cast Item 1 / 2 / 3* the first time they join after this update, so cast-item input works without anyone having to ask. Cast items always fire their own slot regardless of input mapping (mousewheel-friendly). Discarded one? The Abilities page has a "Restore Missing Items" button (15-minute cooldown).
  • Hotbar 7/8/9 casting and the casting-mode toggle are gone. The old "hotbar swap" path that hijacked keys 7/8/9 caused chain-tracker corruption and a slot-revert dance. The three-way Asset / Hotbar / Items toggle and its Settings page entry are removed — there's no longer a mode to pick.
  • Automatic migration for existing players. Bindings carried over from earlier 1.0 prereleases keep working: old hotbar slot 7 binding → Slot 1, slot 8 → Slot 2, slot 9 → Slot 3. The default input map keeps the keyboard feel identical to the prior 1.0.1 prerelease unless you remap.
  • Command changes. /mmoability bind <1|2|3> and /mmoability unbind <1|2|3> now take the slot number directly. New /mmoability input <1|2|3> swaps a slot's input from chat (auto-swaps any conflicting slot). /mmoability list now shows Slot N (input): ability. /mmoability mode removed.
  • /mmoawardxp accepts all and category names. /mmoawardxp all awards XP to every skill; /mmoawardxp works for GATHERING, COMBAT, CRAFTING, or MISC. Amount is awarded once per resolved skill, matching /bulksetxp semantics. Single-skill usage is unchanged.
  • Fixed: server log spam from XP/boost token items. Silenced the flood of Unused key(s) ... FailsOnDamage warnings emitted on every server start. The charging-interaction key was renamed by Hytale and 280 token/scroll item definitions were still using the old spelling.
  • Fixed: skill-tree picks resetting on every login. Claims for skill-tree nodes at off-pattern levels — the Daggers Lv 18 Shadowstep / Vanish choice, the Lv 33 Mark of Death / Smoke Bomb choice, and the Lv 100 capstones across all eleven combat trees — were being silently revoked at the start of each session. The login integrity check was identifying the wrong node for those claims, declaring the reward "orphaned", locking the ability, and clearing the claim. Players who picked one of these abilities had to re-claim after every reconnect. The matching skill-tree buff totals and "next reward at Lv X" indicator on the View XP page also missed the same off-pattern claims — both now read correctly. Existing testers will need to re-claim once after this update; nothing else is required.

Notes

  • When a held item defines its own Ability 1 / 2 / 3 (the vanilla crossbow's reload binds to Ability 3, for example), pressing that key fires both the weapon's built-in ability and your bound MMO ability — they run in parallel rather than the held-item ability shadowing the MMO one. Remap that slot's input (or use its crouch variant) if you want the two kept separate.
  • The cooldown HUD renders three pips (one per slot). Each pip's input badge mirrors the slot's currently-configured Hytale input (A2 / A3 / A2c / etc.), so the HUD reflects remaps live without a reconnect. The 4th pip slot stays reserved in the HUD layout so position overrides remain stable for a future expansion.
